A further visual check can be carried out when you remove your filters from the indoor evaporator for cleaning. With the filters removed inspect the coils with a torch if you can see a positive mould accumulation your health is again at risk. If you do find contamination you should contact a trained specialist. Effective cleaning for the untrained person can be extremely costly. Air conditioner evaporators have many delicate parts and can be damaged easily. Damaging scroll fan fins can cause evaporator units to become unbalanced causing vibration and unwanted noise.
